| Police Administration Initiates Special Lecture Series on Soft Skills |

CHANDIGARH- March 6, 2010: Police Administration Course under the Centre for Emerging Areas in Social Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh has initiated a Special Lecture Series on Soft Skills for the students. The Special Lecture Series began with a Lecture-cum-Workshop on CV Writing by Prof. Deepti Gupta, Department of English, Panjab University on 6th March 2010. Prof. Anil Monga, Coordinator, Police Administration while welcoming Prof. Deepti Gupta and the participants stated that this special lecture series is the need of the hour. According to him, it is very important to fine tune the skills of the students before they enter the competitive world. Prof. Deepti Gupta while highlighting the significance of Resume stated that ‘Resume is the reflection of one’s personality and becomes an important factor for short-listing of the candidates’. She cautioned the candidates that Resume should not be prepared in haste rather one should spend enough time on it and approach it in a professional manner. Prof. Deepti gave practical tips to the participants on the art of Resume preparation. The participants were given hands-on-experience on elements of a Standard Resume also. The Lecture-cum-Workshop ended with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Akshat Mehta, Lecturer, Police Administration, who was of the view that in addition to the ‘hard skills’, there is great need of ‘soft skills’ and such exercises would go a long way in imparting those skills.
