| CHANDIGARH- March 6, 2010: A two day “Professor Ram Chand Paul VI National Annual Symposium” on Emerging areas in Chemical sciences was organized by the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University on 5-6 March, 2010 at P.U. Campus. Hon’ble Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, P.U. was the chief guest for the occasion. The symposium was initiated by paying a special tribute to the former Vice Chancellor Prof. R.C. Paul, in the form of a documentary. While inaugurating the symposium, Prof. Sobti announced that the chemistry auditorium be designated as Prof. Ram Chand Paul Auditorium in the memory of Prof. Paul. He promised a grant of 5 lacs for renovation and up-gradation of the auditorium. He also declared that Professor Ram Chand Paul VII Annual Symposium (RCPNAS-2011) be made part of university budget and should be conducted on an international level. A number of distinguished chemists from the country took part in the deliberations of RCPNAS-2010. Invited lectures were delivered by scientists from IISC Bangalore, IIT Delhi, University of Delhi, IIT Mumbai and GNDU etc. The faculty and research students of the department of Chemistry and other universities/institutes (IIT, Mumbai, IIT Delhi, Kurukshetra University, NIT Kurukshetra, PEC Chandigarh, CDLU Sirsa, GNDU Amritsar, IIT Rorkee, Jamia Milia University, Jammu University, and MMU Ambala) attended the symposium and presented their work in the form of 80 posters and oral presentations. Best poster awards were presented by Dr. Sanjay Trehan, Senior Vice-President, Panacea Biotec. according to Prof. S.K.Mehta, Convener of the Symposium. Press Note No.146 |
